Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)

Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) is the practice of structuring your content and online presence so AI answer engines select, quote, and attribute it when responding to user questions.

AEO is closely related to Generative Engine Optimization — both aim to win placement inside AI answers rather than a ranked list of links. AEO emphasizes the content side: writing clear, factual, well-structured pages that directly answer the questions people ask, in a format an engine can lift and attribute.

For a med spa, that means publishing concise answers to real buyer questions ("how much does Botox cost in Austin?", "is laser hair removal safe?") with accurate detail, FAQ structure, and consistent business information — the qualities that make a source easy for an answer engine to trust and cite.

Answer Engine Optimization (AEO): FAQ

Is AEO the same as GEO?

They overlap heavily and are often used interchangeably. GEO is the broader discipline of getting recommended by generative engines; AEO focuses on optimizing content to be the selected answer. Doing one well generally advances the other.

What content format works best for AEO?

Clear question-and-answer structure, factual statements, descriptive headings, and schema markup. Engines favor sources where the answer is easy to extract verbatim and attribute to a named, trustworthy business.
